Destiny Beta Kicking Off This July

facebooktwitterreddit

As revealed in an Activision Blizzard investor call made earlier today, it appears as though the Destiny beta period will launch this July. The expectation is that Sony and PS4/PS3 users will be the first to have access to the beta period, due to previously-discussed exclusivity deals.

When it comes to creating a game that requires an online connection and is one that is expected (and hoped) to bring in big sales numbers to justify a $500 million investment into the first game alone, it makes sense that the Destiny beta will come some months before the September 9th release. It’s unclear if Destiny beta testing will begin early for the PS4 and PS3 before a testing phase with the Xbox One and Xbox 360 versions, or if there will be some sort of overlap. Activision will need to make up their losses after posting a 35% loss in overall profits over the past quarter, and hopefully for the company Destiny will be the blockbuster franchise they need right now.
