Atlus Teases A New Persona Project

Fans of the Persona series, take heed, as Atlus will be announcing something regarding the franchise on May 2nd. The company intends to stream a program called “Dark Hour TV ~Persona Hour~” via popular Japanese video site, Niconico.

The main purpose of the event is to drum up the rising interest in the premiere of the second Persona 3 animated feature film, the exhaustingly titled Persona 3 the Movie #2 Midsummer Knight’s Dream, which debuts on June 7th in Japan. The special live stream session will showcase “extravagant guests,” presumably voice actors or directors, but will also highlight the events of the first film.

What should be of main interest to fans is the fact that the company teased that the stream will have a “super important announcement of a new project.” If it ends up being a new game, then Atlus is really going full throttle with the franchise.

Late last year, the company announced that a whopping four new games in the series were being developed. That would include Persona 5 and Persona 4: The Ultimax Suplex Hold for the PlayStation 3, Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth for the Nintendo 3DS, and Persona 4: Dancing All Night for the PlayStation Vita. They run the gamut of traditional JRPG to rhythm to fighting games, so it’ll be interesting to see if the series expands even further.
