Not too many mobile games get celebrities to help out with an exclusive quest, but that’s exactly what Kabam is doing with Dragons of Atlantis: Heirs of the Dragon. Actor Wil Wheaton, known for his roles as Wesley Crusher on Star Trek: The Next Generation and currently appearing on both The Big Bang Theory and his own The Wil Wheaton Project, is lending the game some star power through April 28.
Not only is the “Advisor Wheaton” in-game event offering prizes to players who change their player and city names to include the tag “_AW” at the end, he’s also going all out to promote it with weekly tweets and video messages on his own Twitter and Tumblr accounts and Kabam’s Heirs of the Dragon YouTube page.
Wheaton is known as an avid gamer, so the promotion seems like a natural for him.
“Ever since I first played Civilization way back on my Mac II, I’ve loved strategy games and Dragons of Atlantis: Heirs of the Dragon is awesome,” Wheaton said in a press release. “I’ve always been direct and honest with people who read my blog and follow me on social networks, and I can honestly say that I think people will really like this game. Did I mention you get to raise a dragon and train it to rain down fiery death on your sworn enemies? Because you do, and it’s awesome!”
You can get up-to-date info on the event at the Events and Contests page in the game’s official forum. Dragons of Atlantis: Heirs of the Dragon is a free download available for both iOS and Android devices.
