Minecraft Coming To Europe On PS3 Disks May 14
For those who always wanted to play a physical copy of Minecraft on their PS3 and didn’t want to download the game through PSN, your time has finally come (if you happen to live in Europe). Devloper Mojang’s Owen Hill revealed on the PlayStation EU Blog that Minecraft will be coming to retailers for all PAL regions starting May 14th. There has been no confirmation on the PlayStation US Blog about the possibility of PS3 disks heading towards North American retailers.
Additionally, Owen provides reassurance that the PS4 and PS Vita versions of the game are still being developed, although they are still under an apparent delay.
Seeing how Minecraft in almost all version possible has sold incredibly well, I wouldn’t be surprised if Minecraft charted well across European markets. Sales data from NPD here in North America doesn’t typically reflect digital sales, although Mojang does note that at least 1.5 million people have downloaded Minecraft on PS3 since its release in December of last year. That’s no small feat to accomplish, one that can definitely be expanded greatly once Minecraft is sold physically for the PS3.
