Smash Bros Nintendo Direct: Online Multiplayer On Wii U, 3DS
During today’s Smash Bros Nintendo Direct, game director Masahiro Sakurai revealed that both the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U versions of the upcoming Super Smash Bros game will include online play. You can play the game with friends or with strangers, but with strangers there are two modes; For Fun mode and For Glory mode.
In For Fun mode, stages will be random, all items are available, you can play Smash battles only and wins are recorded.
In For Glory, Final Destination will be the only map, no items will appear, 1v1 battles are possible and wins and losses will be recorded.
When you play with your friends, you can still make whatever rules you want. It appears as though Nintendo wants to balance the competitive and playful scene. Their focus on Final Destination goes to show just that.
