Alien: Isolation Drops On October 7

Never letting one terrible game ruin a franchise, Sega will be bringing Alien: Isolation to consoles and PC’s on October 7 later this year. This has been confirmed by The Creative Assembly on a Twitch stream from EGX Rezzed earlier today, hoping to assure interested parties that it will not be another Aliens: Colonial Marines.

Aliens: Isolation will put away the assault weapons and play as a survival horror title, rather than action shooter. You play as Amanda, the daughter of Ripley from the Alien movie franchise. Just like the first movie, there will be one central creature that must be avoided in order to thrive and survive. Taking place between the first two movies, Amanda will be looking into the mystery of her mother’s disappearance.

If Creative Assembly can pull it off, there might be something special in store. The film series is so iconic in its use of pacing, suspense and theme; for a game to capture even 50% of the original film’s magic could make it a critical success in its own right.

Alien: Isolation will be released on PC, Xbox One, PS4, Xbox 360 and PS3 on October 7, 2014.
