Metal Gear Solid V: Phantom Pain Coming Early 2015?

Even though game director Hideo Kojima said that Metal Gear Solid V: Phantom Pain is a long ways away from completion, perhaps it was just part of another Kojima ruse? According to a Reddit user (spotted by IGN), registering a copy of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes will get you access to the next game’s content in early 2015.

Unless a 2-hour game will receive DLC more than 9 months after its release, the screenshot above seems to be on the topic of the Phantom Pain half of the Metal Gear Solid V storyline. However, for a game that is supposed to be roughly 200 times bigger than Ground Zeroes, I doubt that an early 2015 release date is anything other than extremely optimistic.

Kojima does seem to know the scope of how much bigger the follow up in Phantom Pain is in size, so perhaps a lot of the content has been conceptualized or created in one form or another. The game has been in development for some years, so it is entirely possible that we could be playing Phantom Pain this time in 2015.

The support of development of cross-gen games will continue to lower as fans want to experience truly next-gen experiences with a full focus on the newer consoles’ hardware, so if Konami expects to release Phantom Pain on PS3 and Xbox 360, they should get it out as soon as they can.

Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes will be out starting tomorrow for the PS4, Xbox One, PS3 and Xbox 360.
