Pier Solar HD Coming To Everything, With One Notable Exception…
Polygon is reporting that Pier Solar HD, the remake of the Genesis RPG (that came out in 2010!) is heading to almost every platform imaginable in the second quarter of 2014. Seriously, everything. It’s coming out for PS4 and Xbox One. The PS3, Android, Wii U, PC and even the Dreamcast (yes, DREAMCAST) are mentioned as getting a port in the article. A 3DS port is not 100% confirmed, but it was hinted that it may be happening. 360 is not mentioned in the article, but I’m fairly sure that’s an oversight on Polygon’s part as a 360 version is mentioned on the game’s kickstarter page.
One notable missing exception seems to be the Playstation Vita, which while normally passed over for ports of many bigger titles, often gets ports of the majority of indie games. It would be a shame for Vita owners to miss out on this trip back to the 16-bit era of video games as the Vita is a great little platform for RPG’s on the go. I have one and that’s pretty much what I use it for. Hopefully it will get on there eventually because as I said it would be a perfect fit for it.
If you grew up on the classic RPG’s of the 16-bit era such as the Final Fantasy IV & VI and games like Lunar, Pier Solar HD should right up your alley. I love my modern RPG’s but I’ll be very excited to play this love letter to the classics I grew up on.
