"Sony has confirmed an unknown number of layoffs affecting one of flagship studios, Sony Santa Monica.“SCEA can confirm that we have completed a reduction in workforce at Santa Monica Studio,” confirmed the company in a statement to IGN.The extent of the cuts is unclear, but IGN reports “indications” that the studio has been forced to cancel one of its in-development projects."
"Risen fans will be able to enjoy the next installment in the series on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 this August. "Games industry veteran Trip Hawkins has raised $6.5m of venture capital funding for his latest startup, educational games maker If You Can Company.The firm, whose development team is based in London, released its first iPad game earlier in the week. The game – IF… – aims to teach children social and emotional skills through play.The first chapter of IF… has been released as a free download, with more chapters to follow. Hawkins recruited a team of developers to make the game, operating out of If You Can’s London studio."
