Nintendo Direct: Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze Gets Launch Trailer

facebooktwitterreddit

It is almost a week away from release, so it just makes sense that during the Nintendo Direct we would receive a launch trailer for Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. For those fans of the SNES games and wanted to know just how exciting the series could become later down the line; this trailer may entice you!

Just as in previous games, Donkey Kong and friends (including Diddy, Dixie and Cranky Kong) embark on a journey that takes the crew underwater, through the jungle, in cavernous regions and through the toughest of snowy terrains. The attention to detail in the backgrounds of these scenes are so alluring you might forget to pay attention to your characters in the foreground. Another Nintendo strong point is the use of a wide array of vibrant colors, utilizing glorious greens, blossoming blues and other alliterations of other colors.

What I found to be a good direction for Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze was its dynamic sense of movement. You can see the inspirations from Rayman Legends as the Kong family traverses the maps with speed and a ubiquitous flow. Combine that with the rich artistry of photo-negative minimalism of certain levels and you have a game that may push consumers to pick up a Wii U.

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze will be released exclusively on the Nintendo Wii U on February 21. Keep it here at GameSided as we recap the rest of the events from the February 13th Nintendo Direct, and check out the launch trailer below.
