NBA Jam Tweet “Unauthorized” Claims EA

On Wednesday, the official Twitter account for EA Sports’ NBA Jam franchise sent out a not-so-cryptic tweet asking fans if they were ready for a new NBA Jam title.

That message began the spread of rumors that the announcement of a new game in the franchise could come soon seeing as a dormant Twitter account for the past two years recently became active as of this week. Unfortunately though, it seems as though no new NBA Jam is coming any time soon. At least, that’s what Electronic Arts is trying to tell everyone.

“Yesterday, there was unauthorized use of the @nbajam Twitter handle,” an EA representative told Joystiq on Thursday. “We do not have any announcements to make about NBA Jam at this time.”

If this isn’t a smokescreen, and there really isn’t any new NBA Jam information coming, then this is a real bummer to fans of the franchise. NBA Jam has seen one release in the last decade, and that came in 2010 on the Xbox 360, Wii and PlayStation 3 game consoles.
