Witcher 3 Gameplay Designers Leave CD Projekt RED
It’s a troubling time at CD Projekt RED as two gameplay designers behind The Witcher 3 have left the company.
Gameplay producer Marek Ziemak and lead gameplay designer of The Witcher series Maciej Szczesnik have left the company to join indie game stuido 11 Bit Studios.
In a statement announcing his departure, Szczesnik stated that now he is responsible for a game that is all is own.
"“I’ll be responsible for the entire design of a game that took shape in my imagination. It’s a really exciting feeling to create a new world from scratch, make its characters and rules and to know that I have this blank page to fill with my ideas and then bring them to life.”"
It’s unclear where these company departures leave The Witcher 3. The game was scheduled to release sometime in 2014, but with this news it wouldn’t be surprising if CD Projekt RED decided to delay the game in order to go in a different direction. Hopefully more is known in the coming days/weeks.
CD Projekt RED has yet to comment on the situation.
