PlayStation Division Sales Up 64%

Sony’s gaming division, which is the area of the company responsible for bringing us everything PlayStation, has announced a 64% increase in sales during the third quarter to an astonishing $4.2 billion.

The operating income increased by 300% to $172 million compared to the third quarter of last year.

Individual unit sales were not given by Sony, but the company did report that it had sold a combined 7.8 million units in regards to PS3 and PS4 sales during the third quarter. It sold 2 million combined PSP and PS Vita systems during that time period as well. According to VG Chartz, the PS4 has sold 4.9 million units to date worldwide.

Game sales topped at $126 million. That includes all retail and digital copies.
