Amazon Buys Killer Instinct Developer
Amazon has completed the purchase of Killer Instinct developer Double Helix Games. With the deal, Amazon has acquired not only the studio as a whole, but all of its intellectual properties as well.
Tech Crunch first reported of the acquisition. In a statement to the publication, Amazon confirmed the purchase. Financial terms of the deal, however, were not disclosed.
“Amazon has acquired Double Helix as part of our ongoing commitment to build innovate games for customers,” the statement read. The purchase of Double Helix games, as Tech Crunch states, increases speculation that Amazon is planning on releasing its on Android-powered game console.
Who knows if that is actually part of the reason why Amazon bought the development studio, but it’s still an interesting discussion point either way.
