"Retail giant Amazon will launch a dedicated games and entertainment device this year priced below $300.Running the Android operating system, the system will compete directly with Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo, offering the streaming and download of games, music, movies and TV content, multiple sources have told VG247.The unit being shown to publishers at this point is said to be roughly the same size as the PSone redesign, grey in colour, oblong in shape and with sharp edges. However, the pre-production unit is likely to have a full makeover before any official release."
"Sales of Electronic Arts’ video games for older consoles have tailed off more quickly than expected, the publishing giant said yesterday. Blake Jorgensen, EA’s chief financial officer, said there was a “much sharper decline than anticipated in demand for current-generation software,” as third quarter sales for EA games on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 dropped 35 percent against the same period the previous year.Despite the dip in sales for software aimed at older consoles, EA appears to have a strong position on next-gen gaming systems."
"Senior Nintendo executives are to take pay cuts following its report of profit and revenue declines.Japanese newspaper Nekkei reports that company president Satoru Iwata will take a voluntary pay cut of 50 per cent, while Nintendo’s other two directors, including Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto, will take a 30 per cent reduction to salary.The remaining Nintendo board members will have their salary reduced by 20 per cent."
