3. Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater

What a thrill…

Canonically the game that started it all, the story of Big Boss in the forests of Vietnam is near perfect. The series’ best voice acting, story, collection of bosses and stealth mechanics, Snake Eater cannot be beat by any in the series, in my opinion. Additionally, Hideo Kojima is a damned mastermind when it comes to the amount of pointlessly, specifically-detailed moments and secrets there are in the game. Who puts the character in a cave, forcing them to wait minutes for them to adjust to the lack of light? Who makes a bee’s nest a viable weapon? Every playthrough unlocks something new just from accidental discoveries alone.
