MLBAM Announces RBI Baseball 14 For Spring 2014 Release

For the first time in almost two decades, we will have an R.B.I. Baseball game to look forward to! Major League Baseball Advanced Media has announced R.B.I. Baseball 14 is coming this Spring 2014 to current and next generation consoles, in addition to smartphones and tablets.

This means that MLB 14: The Show will not go uncontested when it comes to console baseball simulation this spring. About a week ago, 2K Sports announced that they were bowing out of their MLB 2K franchise in efforts to focus on other sports-related titles (read: NBA 2K). It was arguably the right call to make, seeing as their basketball sim has been great over the years against their competition, while their baseball sim was left uninspired and paled in comparison to the MLB: The Show series.

Not much else is known at this time, but it should mean that baseball video gaming won’t be console-exclusive to PlayStation going forward. We will be following the development of R.B.I. Baseball 14 as it progresses. Fans can also follow the game’s Twitter account: @RBIGAME. Here’s to hoping you can’t bunt for a home run like you used to back in the day!
