Top 10 Console Games of 2013

2. The Last of Us
This was a tough decision as I’m sure many of you feel The Last of Us WAS the game of the year for 2013 but hear me out. I truly feel The Last of Us is a phenomenal game, with both the single player story and multiplayer delivering hours upon hours of fun. Naughty Dog really did a great job with the game and created a whole new idea of what a zombie outbreak might look like. All while creating a very submersible story line along with it.
The game created emotional ties to the characters in ways other games didn’t, and they did a phenomenal job with the father/daughter story line. However, the game fell short in the action packed department. Many times you were left exploring an area that just felt empty. Yes I know, in real life that would happen, but I’m not looking for a real life game. The game was a little too realistic in areas and needed to be dialed down a notch to help advance the story a little quicker than it did.
In addition, too many times I questioned the actions I was taking as Joel and sometimes the actions felt heartless especially the decision towards the end of the game in the operating room. Quite frankly, I was disgusted at the decision I had to make.
However, stories are controversial sometimes like that, but The Last of Us just didn’t rise up and go above and beyond my expectations to earn a number 1 spot for 2013.
What we all can agree on, though, is that the game is wonderful, and I look forward to a sequel as it will be a must own title for whatever year it is released in. I look for it to earn many praises just as this game did in it’s art design, voice narration, and script writing.
