6. The Wii U Has A Terrible Year In 2013
2012 was a good year for the Wii U. It sold over 3 million units worldwide in roughly 6 weeks on the market. Unfortunately, the 12 months following its initial success have been terrible. It has since sold an estimated 1.2 million consoles in that time, which equates to roughly a 40% increase over a year.Selling 222,000 consoles in Novembermeans that it is roughly on par with the Sega Dreamcast’s sales numbers during its November months.
It’s clear that Nintendo won’t replicate the success its had with the Nintendo Wii. EA has dropped gaming support until it becomes a viable console/install base, Ubisoft is no longerexploring a sequel to ZombiUdue to commercial failures,the price cutdid little to gain the public’s interest andgames that were originally exclusivessaw portsto other consoles and PCjust to be able to break even.
