9. THQ Auctions Off Their IP’s, Ending Almost 24 Years Of Game Creation

The Humble Bundle couldn’t save them. Consumers couldn’t save them. THQ couldn’t save them from themselves. In January, THQ liquidated their assets to several other companies in their final stages of declaring bankruptcy. It was the end of an era, as former “Toy Head-Quarters” finally closed up shop.

Their games are in mostly loving hands. Saints Row is now being published by Deep Silver, South Park: The Stick of Truth now with Ubisoft, Company of Heroes to Sega (along with Warhammer 40,000), the WWE series is now with Take-2, Homefront is now with Crytek and many other of their properties are with a number of other companies. The demise of THQ shows that even the mighty are capable to fall.
