Minecraft Releases December 17 For PS3
What a lovely holiday surprise! The developers of Minecraft announced on the PlayStation Blog that Minecraft will be available as a PS3 digital download starting tomorrow, December 17th, here in North America.
Finally, PlayStation owners can experience the world of Minecraft in a home console setting. Now that it is finally here, both the popular Xbox 360 and PS3 versions will have upcoming content developed in tandem going forward.
There are still some unknown details about this PS3 version of Minecraft. The price is still up in the air, although it’ll be around the same price as the Xbox 360 version. Whether or not it will be higher or lower is a matter to be seen tomorrow. Additionally, compatibility for the PS4 versions or remote play on Vita remains a mystery. However, downloadable textures and skins are on their way, with possible PlayStation-exclusives in the mix.
The PS4 and PS Vita versions of Minecraft are still in development, so you can expect to see them sometime in 2014. It was supposed to be a launch title for the PS4, so hopefully it can see a release within its launch window spanning to March 31, 2014.
Regardless, the PS3 version of Minecraft is available for download on PSN December 17th.
