Straight from Bungie’s news hub comes the announcement that Destiny will be released worldwide on September 9, 2014. It will be released on both the PS4 and Xbox One, as well as last-gen consoles PS3 and Xbox 360.

"Today, in partnership with Activision, we are proud to announce that the worldwide launch of Destiny will happen on September 9th. Accordingly, the Destiny Beta will kick off in the summer of 2014, available first on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3.The early support and enthusiasm for Destiny has been inspiring and humbling. We believe this is the right decision for our game, our studio, and our passionate community. Thank you for coming along with us on this adventure.See you starside."

Bungie, while departing from their claim to fame with the original Halo trilogy, will maintain the allure of the sci-fi FPS genre with Destiny. However, the game will be built more around an open world concept, with an emphasis in jolly cooperation in an always-online, action-RPG environment.
