 2. Dead Rising

It was tough to rank the best mall game: numbers one and two are really, really tight. Dead Rising has perhaps the best, most believable malls in all of gaming. It’s filled with stores that seem believable and real, it’s layout is well thought out, and it seems more alive than any of the previous malls on this list.

Correction: it seems more undead.

Dead Rising borrowed heavily from the movie Dawn of the Dead, but took it a step further adding unique weapons and Zombie logic to perfect the surprisingly robust “stuck in a shopping mall over run with Zombies” genre. In fact, the game’s only weakness was the ubiquitous tranciever, which had the habit of interrupting otherwise incredible Zombie-slashing action at the most inconvenient time.
