4. Bart vs. The Space Mutants

Over the years, licensed games have gotten a bad rap. They’re often accused of wrapping half baked gaming over familiar material, or of only tangentally touching upon the property upon which they’re supposed to be based.

Level 1 of Bart vs. the Space Mutants takes place in downtown Springfield, and really did capture (as best the 8 bit NES could) the feel and humour of the Simpsons.

Level 2 of Bart vs. the Space Mutants takes place in the Springfield Mall, and is perhaps one of the worst game levels of all time.

It takes things not even remotely related to the Simpsons, and squeezes them into an all-too difficult level: giant candy bar platforms, animated bouncing hats, and an alien, disguised as a human, sitting in a giant shoe. Even with the SALE signs in every window, this is one mall I’d recommend staying away from this Black Friday.
