Ryse: Son of Rome Review Roundup

Ryse: Son of Rome, at first glace, is a beautifully stunning game. I was enamored with its aesthetics with my first impressions of the game’s demo, but I did not know truly how to feel about the combat. Hack and slash seems to be the operative notion when it comes to this Xbox One launch title. And, with a review embargo held until just 18 hours before the console releases at its earliest in North America, one wonders if it was done intentionally, or if the game “drew the short straw” when it came to stagnating game reviews.

The reason I ponder this thought is because the reviews for Ryse are in, and boy are they not pretty for Microsoft. Nor are they for developers at Crytek, responsible for arguably the most graphically-demanding game series (in its time) with Crysis. We may have the Xbox One’s answer to the disappointing results of the PS4’s Knack.

Here is collectively what the reviewers thought of Ryse: Son of Rome.
