Is Nintendo Working On An Educational Gaming Tablet?

facebooktwitterreddit

Nintendo has done remarkably well when it comes to the mobile gaming market. The hardware and software sales of the Nintendo 3DS may not be reaching top-of-the-line smartphone numbers, but within the hardcore gaming market it is the smash hit of 2013. Now it appears as though Nintendo may be going into the tablet business, strictly for educational gaming use, according to Nintendo of America Software Engineer Nando Monterazo on Twitter.

Going off of other tweets, it appears as though the tablet would be a completely new property removed from the Wii U line, meaning that it would not be an expanded off-TV use of the Wii U’s Gamepad. As well, the games would strictly for educational gaming purposes using Nintendo’s range of characters from their intellectual property.

It is an interesting concept that hopefully can be expanded upon shortly. We will be on the lookout for more information on this project in the weeks, months and, possibly, years ahead.
