Still a little confused about the whole “Metal Gear Solid V” getting split into two games deal? Feeling a little unsure about how a new, more open world approach will mesh with classic “MGS” stealth gameplay?

You’re probably not alone. The unveiling of the latest entry in the enduring series was a bit confusing, but Konami and Kojima Productions are doing their best to get everyone pumped for its first appearance on next-gen consoles. That’ll take the form of “Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes,” a game that will hit Ps4, Ps3, Xbox One, and Xbox 360 next spring—and for just half the price of a normal new release title.

Creator Hideo Kojima has stated that “Ground Zeroes” is supposed to get players accustomed to the new gameplay elements they will need to use in the second, presumably bigger chapter, entitled “Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.” To that end, he and his team have released a 12-minute extended gameplay video that shows off some interesting stealth and cover mechanics, time of day and weather conditions, AI refinements, and, of course, upgraded graphics.

You can check out that video below, and be sure to keep your eyes out for a second video depicting the “Deja Vu” mission. Headed exclusively for PS4 and PS3, this throwback episode features a pixelated Solid Snake from the original “Metal Gear Solid” doing his thing in the current HD world. Sounds like the best kind of mash-up possible.
