The Panthers entered Week 10 riding a four game winning streak that has many in the Queen City talking playoffs. Of course, there are still plenty doubters of the Panthers, but that could all change if Carolina could clear the hurdle that is its Week 10 opponent, the San Francisco 49ers.

The Panthers fought hard, but their inability to find the endzone cost them as they fell to the 49ers to fall to 5-4 on the season.

Cam Newton threw for just 165 yards and two interceptions for Carolina. San Francisco’s Colin Kaepernick threw for 215 and a touchdown. He added a score with his feet as well in the fourth quarter.

Steve Smith left the game for Carolina in the first quarter with what was diagnosed as a back sprain. He did not return.
