Need For Speed Rivals A PS4 Launch Title Once Again
After the postponement of Driveclub to early 2014, it looked like the PlayStation 4 would not have a racing game at its launch date to combat Microsoft and Xbox One’s Forza Motorsport 5. Need For Speed Rivals had planned to release on both holiday 2013 next-gen consoles on November 22nd, but today the Community Manager for EA Games confirmed on the PlayStation Blog that Need For Speed Rivals will be a November 15th launch day title for the PlayStation 4.
The racing series has not been known for an authentic simulation, but to act as a fun arcade racer. Unlike on restricted tracks, Need For Speed Rivals will be played in an open world and even includes a way to seamlessly transition from single player, to co-op or multiplayer with AllDrive. Going off of E3 2013, seamless mode-switching will be the gaming trend early on for next-gen consoles.
Additionally, the PlayStation 4 version of the game will feature remote play, allowing PS Vita owners to take the game with them when forfeiting the TV. Although the PlayStation 4 will have to wait until Gran Turismo 6 gets ported to their newest console to get a pure racing sim, Need For Speed Rivals at least looks to bring a different type of fun than shooters or character action games at launch.
Need For Speed Rivals will launch with the PlayStation 4 on November 15th, on the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on November 19th and on the Xbox One on November 22nd.
