The Dodgers stave off elimination with a Game 5 win. Skip Schumaker must have had a lucky rabbit’s foot on him, as he smacked a 2-run home run in Dodger Stadium. Carl Crawford also contributed with 2 home runs, each of the solo variety. Grienke’s solid start actually got him the win this time, going 8 innings and giving up 2 ER on 6 hits, a walk and 5 K’s. Kenley Jansen made it close in a non-save situation by giving up 2 runs in the top of the 9th.

The Cardinals will have to look to lock up this series at home after this game’s results. Matt Carpenter led off the game with a double and a stolen base of third, but was stranded. Other than Matt Adams’ 2 hits, including a double, there wasn’t much else to be said about the offense. Kelly didn’t have it going tonight, lasting 5 innings and giving up 3 ER on 3 hits, 4 walks and 5 K’s.
