Tigers vs Athletics: Game 5

The Tigers clinch the ALDS and move on to the American League Championship Series! Despite little/no production out of Alex Avila, the 2-3-4 hitters provided all you could need. They collectively went 7-15, with 5 RBI and 2 runs. This resulted in Jackson, Hunter and Miggy scoring all of the team’s runs. Scherzer continued to pitch amicably by capping off a 7 inning, 8 hit, 3 ER, 2 walk and 8 K performance with a win.

The pitching for the Athletics this series really took its toll, yielding at least 5 runs per game against. Crisp and Donaldson could do only so much, with a surprising Stephen Vogt appearance required to break up the monotomy with a 3-4 game. It could also be the middle infielders, who both went 0-4 and each had an error. Bartolo Colon didn’t help his cause, as the 2nd inning really did him in. He finished after 4 innings, giving up 9 hits, 5 ER, a walk and 5 K’s.
