The Pirates can smell the NLCS not too far in the distance with this pivotal Game 3 win. As a proud Canadian I was happy to see that fellow countrymen J. Russell Martin and Justin Morneau provided the team’s total RBI count at 3 between them (1 run was unearned). Even more surprising was that Snider also had a stolen base against Yadier Molina and that Francisco Liriano took his second win in the postseason. What magic has created this world where Liriano is good again?

Matt Carpenter gave it his best effort to stave off the surging Bucs, going 2-3 with a solo HR, a double and a walk. His .416 batting average for the series is only bested by Jon Jay, who kept his .545 going with 2 hits out of 4 AB’s. Shelby Miller took the loss after going 6 innings with 2 ER, 6 hits, 2 walks and 7 K’s.

Will the Cardinals bring back balance to the baseball force and win Game 4, pushing a tiebreaking Game 5?
