Metal Gear Online 1 Lives On, Returns October 4th

Kept you waiting, huh? The ever-popular Metal Gear Online mode that came shipped with Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence will make its return October 4 at 18:00 ET thanks to a faithful MGO community at SaveMGO.com.

If you didn’t get to play Metal Gear Online the first time, this version provided multiple game modes, including variations of death matches, capture the flag and sneaking missions within the realm and gameplay of Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence. The best players from the previous round’s teams may also continue the next round as one of the popular Metal Gear Solid 3 characters, depending on server settings. The online servers only lasted a year, shutting down in April 2007. Now, SaveMGO are bringing the PlayStation 2 gameplay back to the PlayStation 2, 3 and PC.

Here’s what you need for each version:

PC Version:

  • A copy of Metal Gear Solid 3:Subsistence Disk 2
  • PCSX2 Binaries with Dev9Gigarazi Plugin
  • Cheat file(.pnach) for your disk

PS2 Version: 

  • A copy of Metal Gear Solid 3:Subsistence Disk 2
  • A supported cheat device: Gameshark2 v4, Codebreaker 9, Coder 3. (Coder disk need to match the region of your PS2)

PS3 Version:

  • A copy of Metal Gear Solid 3:Subsistence Disk 2
  • A supported cheat device: Codebreaker 9.
