SimCity Gets First Expansion, Cities Of Tomorrow, On November 12

It’s only right that a game focused on expanding a city from its first few zones to a booming metropolis would actually get an expansion. And indeed, “SimCity” is receiving just that on November 12.

Entitled “SimCity: Cities of Tomorrow,” the expansion looks like it will inject a little bit of the future into the lives of mayors everywhere. For starters, you’ll be able to choose to build around clean technology and the helpful aspects of science or give into the “greed is good” consumption of OmegaCo. You know, kind of like Buy N Large from the Pixar universe.

On the disaster front, a giant robot attack will send your citizens scurrying for cover. That’s if they aren’t stuck on the Mag Lev lines or cruising the streets in new, mpre technologically advanced vehicles.

Perhaps the most interesting addition will be the Mega Powers, as Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage… Oops, I mean MegaTowers, which will rise to heights three times the level of current buildings and sound like they will be able to incorporate all three types of zones within a single structure. This may not exactly solve the primary request of most “SimCity” players—namely, that they wish they could have larger city plots—but at least you’ll be able to build up when you can no longer build out.

The expansion is already available for pre-order for $29.99 if you just can’t wait a few months, but trust me: the future will be here before you know it.
