Solstice Arena Launches On Mac, Cross-Platform With iOS Version
By Nick Tylwalk
“Solstice Arena” showed it was possible for a MOBA to be accessible and mobile yet deep enough to satisfy serious players when it hit iOS devices this summer. Now it’s got another trick up its sleeve: going cross-platform so that Mac users can join in the fun too.
Zynga just rolled “Solstice Arena” out to the Mac App Store, and the idea is that the “Speed MOBA” will be cross-platform across all Apple devices. That means player can be on iPhones, iPads or Macs, all playing on the same server and in the same matches. The developers are touting the fact that the game’s balance will remain intact no matter how people choose to get in the game.
I had a chance to review the original release back in June and was suitably impressed with what I found. It’s actually a very fun game that does everything possible to be friendly to people who are MOBA newcomers while having enough strategic complexity to offer something to veterans too. It’s not going to supplant “League of Legends” or anything, but it plays great on tablets and delivers exactly what it promises.
If “Solstice Arena” feels similar on Macs, that should only add to its appeal. And since I don’t have a Mac to see how it fares, feel free to drop a comment below and let me know if you’re planning on trying it out.
