It seems that the developers at Popcap Games HAVE seen Titanfall and their decision to forgo their single player campaign mode. They might not have based their decisions on that alone, but it appears to the folks at Shack News discovered that Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare will be a multiplayer-only game. In addition, it will launch in 2014 for the Xbox One first at a price of $39.99, the most expensive title the company has developed.

Garden Warfare will be even cheaper on the Xbox 360 and PC versions, which will retail at $29.99. This suggests that EA Games, the publishers bringing the game to Microsoft consoles, value the extra content exclusive to the Xbox One at around $10. Such exclusive content includes the Boss Mode, in which you take command of either team plants or team zombies and provide strategic overhead cover. You can use voice commands through the power of Kinect or take control off-screen using SmartGlass technology to drop air strikes and more.

Either generation of Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare seems to be a lot cheaper of a console/PC game than other titles created by AAA developers. It will be a big step forward for PopCap as they try to branch out further from just social and mobile games.

Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare will be available on Xbox One and Xbox 360 first in early 2014, with the PC version to follow.
