7. Elder Scrolls: Skyrim

The landscape, the gameplay and the overall story made Skyrim a top game of the Xbox 360’s lifespan. While ES: Oblivion was a great game in and of itself, Skyrim took the elements of that title and made it better.

The game’s controls were refined, the visuals were made crisper and the combat animations just looked and played better in general. Skyrim was a game a player could load up and get lost in for hours. There were numerous times where I would say to myself “I’ll only play for an hour or so” only to end up playing five/six hours at a time. It was that addicting of a game.

The only reason it didn’t end up higher on this list was due to the amount of time it took to get fully involved in the game. It took about six hours before you really got into the meat and potatoes of what the game had to offer, and that’s just way too long of an acclimation period.
