As we start to wind down another generation of gaming ahead of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, we at GameSided wanted to look back at what the current generation of consoles brought to the entertainment forefront.

The PlayStation 3 provided countless hours of excitement to more than 75 million households over a 7 year span, bringing forth plenty of excellent first and third party games. Not only that, they come in multiple shapes and sizes, AAA and indie, RPG’s and sports games. That’s why I bring you my list of the best PlayStation 3 games, broken down by genre.

It is very difficult to create a list entirely of console exclusives, as both the PS3 and Xbox 360 only have so many blockbuster exclusives that are highly regarded throughout each genre. That’s why I will consider exclusivity of games in this list to be weighted higher than it would in other lists.
