15. Jetpack Joyride

Carpal tunnel syndrome, thy name is “Jetpack Joyride.” This simple but awesome game about a guy named Barry Steakfries who has a machine gun backpack that allows him to fly has had players tapping on their screens since 2011. It also works in references to other games and a sense of humor to add to the experience.

One-touch gameplay has been incorporated into many subsequent games in increasingly clever ways, but Halfbrick got it right pretty early on. The machine gun jetpack though? Not sure I’ve seen that one copied by anyone else.
