Is bigger and flashier always better? Definitely not when it comes to mobile gaming, and “Dots” can be considered Exhibit A as I testify to that.

The primary game mechanic is a simple one—connect as many of the same colored dots as possible in 60 seconds—but it becomes something more thanks to the few extras thrown in. It also helps that this is a masterpiece of design: the colored dots against the white background, the music and other sounds are all great. Striking is probably the right word, and that’s not something you’d say about most puzzle games.
