Pewdiepie Is Now The Most Subscribed Channel On Youtube

Pewdiepie is now the most subscribed channel on Youtube. He has just usurped the Smosh channel to become the #1 channel in not just the Youtube gaming community, but of the entire network.

To those unfamiliar with Pewdiepie and his work, he goes by the real name of Felix Arvid Ulf Kjellberg. His specialty is creating Let’s Plays of horror and action video games, in which he often uses a facecam to record his over-the-top reactions. His appearance, his demeanor and the games he plays are just some of the reasons why he’s built a strong audience that averages between 3-5 million views/video he creates. There are other factors that explain why he became #1 on Youtube, which are explained perfectly in this video.

You can’t make 2.2+ billion video views without making a few enemies. A large contingent of people have been angry with Pewdiepie because of what he makes light of. Over countless videos he’s made jokes about rape in a very childish voice and manner. The problem doesn’t rely just in the fact he’s made jokes about the subject alone; comedians have successfully done it multiple times in the past. It’s the fact that his “jokes” include screaming the word multiple times in his funny-sounding voices to his mostly 13-17 year old audience. By doing so, he has allowed the word to be thrown into the lexicon of the very young as an idea that is synonymous with silliness, which is not okay.

He has since apologized for joking about it like he did, and has since refrained from doing so. Still, there is no taking away from the fact that Pewdiepie is now the #1 most subscribed Youtuber of all time.
