Today Ubisoft began a gameplay video series for its upcoming title Watch Dogs. In part 1, they showed off the main attraction to the game; hacking.

It begins by detailing Watch Dogs’ ctOS, the software designed to run securities and communicative information throughout the fictionalized Chicago. Aiden Pearce, using his smartphone, must go district to district and hack into each information center operated by ctOS in order to control a larger area within the city.

After that has been completed, you can then begin hacking into a plethora of devices. Webcams, phone calls, laptops; the more data you obtain the more you can hone your craft. The trailer revealed a skills and stats tree that your character can upgrade his abilities with, as well as improve basic things like driving and exactly what devices can be hacked over time. It’s an interesting addition to provide an RPG element to this game.

All and all, Ubisoft says that you have over 75 different hacking operations at your disposal in Watch Dogs. While most of the video used previously-shown footage, they did highlight new gameplay opportunities. Some of those included overloading steam pipes and the ability to enter a Focus Mode that gives Aiden Pearce a slowdown, allowing him to perform multiple operations at once in order to escape out of a hairy situation.

Part 2 will focus on the setting of Chicago and how it plays into the Watch Dogs story. For now, enjoy the video above as we get to know more and more about one of the most intriguing launch titles for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Watch Dogs will be coming to PC, Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft consoles on November 19 later this year.
