Infinite Crisis Opens Up Coast City To Beta Players 8/14 Through 8/16
By Nick Tylwalk
Coast City is best known to fans of DC Comics as the place that got blown off the map by Mongul and Hank Henshaw, ultimately driving Green Lantern Hal Jordan insane (don’t worry, because this is comics — he got better). In the upcoming “Infinite Crisis” MOBA, Coast City has a somewhat more pleasant reputation as the setting for the game’s second map. Closed beta participants will get their first look at the map in a three-day event that kicks off on August 14.
Coast City allegedly plays like classic MOBA maps, sporting two lanes and neutral enemies that spawn in the middle of an “urban jungle.” Fittingly, it also features a Doomsday Device that hopefully just devastates the other team and not the poor citizens.
Turbine is also touting a host of assorted improvements to the general gameplay experience, including performance upgrades and champion balancing, friend lists to make teaming with buddies easier, and the Foundry to help find and build Artifacts. Also added to the mix are new stolen powers with champion-specific effects.
It sounds like a blast for people lucky enough to already be a part of the closed beta, but what about the rest of us? Well, we can still fill out an application and hope for the best. And if that doesn’t work, “Infinite Crisis” is expected to launch before the end of 2013, and then we’ll all be able to check out the not-yet-ruined streets of Coast City together. Deal?
