PS Vita Software Update: Cloud Features and Playstation Plus

PlayStation Vita users recently were able to download system software update 2.60 for their consoles, which essentially allowed access to some of their handheld device’s key features.

With access to PlayStation Plus, gamers can now save their game files to cloud storage, and revisit their gameplay via their own or another PS Vita.

With Sony continuing to aggressively promote PlayStation Plus – a subscription based gaming service similar to Xbox Live – this is just another convincing way to get gamers to subscribe.

PS Vita consoles can also now access music and video content on connected PlayStation 3 consoles and surrounding PCs without having to actually copy the data.

There are also the more subtle additions, like having quick access to your Wi-FI, bluetooth, screen brightness options and more by simply holding down the PS button. It’s inclusions like this that make the PS Vita feel more like our other more commonly owned handheld electronic devices.

Other updates include more video formats available on the online browser, enhanced playback settings when viewing media, a customizable home screen, privacy settings for sharing trophy information, as well as improved stability issues.

Access to the Playstation network through Wi-Fi, or connection to a PS3 or PC is required when downloading any update.
