D.I.C.E. Europe Adds Crytek CEO, Oddworld CCO To Speaker Slate
By Nick Tylwalk
The speaker lineup for D.I.C.E. Europe just got even more impressive.
Already boasting names like revered game designer Peter Molyneux, EA Chief Creative Director Richard Hilleman and Wargaming CEO and Founder Victor Kislyi, the roster of speakers for the industry conference added two more big names on Thursday. One is Cevat Yerli, President and CEO of Crytek, maker of the “Crysis” series and the upcoming “Ryse: Son of Rome.” His talk will focus on the evolution of video game technology – fitting, since the “Crysis” games are known for pushing the envelope – and the ways video game and movie creation are converging.
Even more ambitious sounding is the session planned by Lorne Lanning, CCO and co-founder of Oddworld Inhabitants. He’ll be explaining how the studio behind the “Oddworld” games has planned its design process on the macro level, how the changing leisure time habits of gamers is affecting those plans going forward, and “why it’s a blessing that retail is dying.”
Sponsored by the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences and Video Games Intelligence, D.I.C.E. Europe will take place at London’s Royal Garden Hotel with networking events on Sept. 24 and speaker sessions on Sept. 25. This is the first year for the European edition of the show, which has a long-running U.S. counterpart every February in Las Vegas.
