Mystery Box Brings Retired Heroes Back To Super Hero Squad Online

One of the things my four year-old son loves best about “Super Hero Squad Online” is the chance to add as many different Marvel super heroes to his roster as possible. It’s great for showing off his encyclopedic knowledge of costumed characters at the local comic book shop.

Sometimes you just miss out though, especially since the game has offered a number of heroes for a limited time only. If you didn’t have enough gold at the time, you were out of luck.

That’s about to change thanks to the Summer Spectacular Mystery Box. Available for purchase inside the game, Gazillion says the box “contains all of the previously retired heroes from American Dream to Werewolf by Night and everyone in between.”

Starting on July 1, all of the normal heroes are going to be easier to acquire as well thanks to the Hero Every Day Sale. As the name suggests, a different hero will be sold at a reduced price each day, providing all the motivation you should need to log on regularly.

And since the Squad always needs villains to vanquish, the Iron Man-themed content continues with the Extremis Measures mission. Titanium Man and his Extremis-enhanced henchmen are the bad guys in this one, and as usual, it’s up to your heroes to stop them.

Meanwhile, Gazillion’s other super hero MMO is having a sale of its own. “Marvel Heroes” is marking down Captain America by 50 percent in honor of July 4, and Wolverine by the same percentage to celebrate Canada Day. Plenty of other heroes and costumes are also on sale through July 8, and the game’s customer service team will even help players get refunds on their in-game currency if they bought a sale item for full price since June 25.
