Report: Google Developing Console

Could Google be throwing its hat into the microconsole race? If a report by the Wall Street Journal is to be believed then yes, they very well could be.

WSJ reports that a new console, along with a wrist watch, is currently in development by the San Francisco based company. Google is allegedly interested in producing an Android-powered console, and watch, in order to have a counter to whatever Apple decides to do in the future.

The article also states that Google had been watching what Ouya has been doing very closely. The Ouya console, an open Android system, was released this week for $99. It even sold out in places in just one day.

Though it’s an idea that hasn’t fully taken off to consumers just yet, an android console developed by the owner of the operating system could get plenty of purchasers on board with the idea due to Google being able to incorporate the Google Play store in a way that no other company could.
