The Last of Us has received almost universal acclaim. Its gripping, dark tale has some even pondering if it is the best this generation of gaming has to offer. A lot of its success is due to the chemistry between main characters Joel and Ellie, portrayed beautifully with the help of performance capture. The game still requires the alteration of the actors’ likeness, and Ellie’s likeness in particular was the center of quite the controversy.

Recently, Ellen Page hopped onto Reddit to participate in an AMA – Ask Me Anything. One Reddit user asked about the similarity of the character Ellie in The Last Of Us to Ellen Page and if she knew about it, and this was her response:

"I guess I should be flattered that they ripped off my likeness, but I am actually acting in a video game called Beyond Two Souls, so it was not appreciated."

Last night, The Last Of Us developer Naughty Dog made their response.

Luckily, Ellen Page felt the same wayThis is the revision Naughty Dog was talking about, and you can clearly see the difference in the likenesses of the two model assets. The early edition of Ellie certainly does look like Ellen Page, but the changes made certainly should have ended the conversation there. Instead we had a public debacle that was made out of a simple snap comment made by an actress trying to answer just some of the thousands of questions coming her way.

Now that it’s all over, we can get back to talking about the game. Did you enjoy The Last Of Us? If you haven’t played it yet, do you plan on picking it up? Tell us in the comments section below!
