Watch Dogs Multiplayer Gameplay Leaked, Showcases Hacking And Pursuit
Earlier this week, a short video of Watch Dogs multiplayer gameplay was leaked online. It presents both revealed aspects of online play; hack and be hacked. Ubisoft recently teased about the use of multiplayer in Watch Dogs on their blog, but now we get to see it in action.
In the first half of the video we see main character Aiden walking down the street, until he gets a notification that he is being hacked. He then searches the area with the help of his phone to search through the crowd of NPC’s looking for his hacker. Utilizing a camera, he then spots another player hiding in a corner, who open being discovered runs away. It is now Aiden’s job to kill the hacker to nullify the threat. While he ultimately gets away, your data is protected. The second half of the video shows the hacking aspect from the hacker’s prospective in a different scenario.
If the seamless transition from single to multiplayer sounds familiar, it is because it is a tool used well in Demon’s and Dark Souls games. Under certain circumstances, you can be invaded by another player to duel in PvP, or you can summon another player into your game for some jolly cooperation in an attempt to defeat the area’s boss. For Watch Dogs, there will be specific multiplayer quests for both aggressive and protective reasons, as well. Another interesting fact is that you will see yourself playing as Aiden, while the other player sees you as a regular NPC character. It’s a clever way of keeping you immersed in the character while not giving yourself away.
You can check out the leaked multiplayer gameplay trailer below. Watch Dogs will be released in North America on November 19, 2013 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii U, as well as a launch title for the PlayStation 4 and a Q4 release date for Xbox One.
