Microsoft Shows Off Xbox One Headset

The chat headset that will be shipping with the Xbox One this fall has been revealed.

The new headgear looks similar to that of the Xbox 360 that users have grown accustomed to using. There will be a mute button as well as volume controls on the plug of the headset that will attach directly to the Xbox One Controller.

As you can see, the input looks more like a USB 3.0 port rather than the standard 2.5 audio jack that has been used since the 360’s release in 2005.

It’s a standard mono headset with the ear piece on the right side. New to this model is padding on both sides to provide a more comfortable fit on the user’s head.

The new device will support a new wideband voice codec that will allow sharp, high-quality cross game voice chat.

The headset is the first look users have seen of new accessories directly from Microsoft for the Xbox One. Microsoft is also expected to release it’s own controller charging station.

What do you think of the headset? Are you happy that Microsoft left, for all intents and purposes, the model alone, or would you rather have seen them come out with a completely redesigned look?
